Learn the skills needed to be employed in the dynamic multifaceted profession of recreation, parks, and tourism (RPT) from faculty who have worked extensively and conducted research in these fields. Our department was the first college recreation program in California and is one of the oldest in the US, yet is cognizant of the latest trends and innovations. The RPT program is nationally accredited and we work closely with a wide variety of RPT organizations for student internships and job placement. RPT offers undergraduate and graduate degrees and a certificate program. There are four primary emphasis areas:
- Events, Tourism, and Commercial Recreation
- Health, Wellness, and Community Recreation
- Youth Services and Nonprofit Recreation
- Parks, Natural Resources, and Outdoor Recreation
Together, our programs, faculty, and the San Francisco Bay Area community provide an international "living laboratory." You can start or advance a career in RPT, increase your understanding and help bring positive change in the contemporary world.
