Biography

Jennifer Der is an alumni of SF State and holds a Master of Science in Recreation Administration, Bachelors of Science in Business Administration Management, and a Minor in Asian American Studies.  She has over 20 years of experience working and volunteering in the field of recreation, earning her certifications as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor and is now the Senior Recreation Program Supervisor for the City of Daly City, overseeing the areas of Youth to Senior Programming, City-Wide Special Events, and Volunteer-led/Contracted Classes.  Jennifer is a lecturer for the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Department and is passionate about teaching students the benefits of  self-reflection and growth through interpreting, producing and appreciating art.  For leisure, she most enjoys playing sports.  She played 4 years of collegiate volleyball and 1 year of basketball as an SF State Gator and now continues to play sports recreationally, in addition to coaching youth in sports.  She also enjoys reading, traveling, and trying new places to eat!  Her motto is: Live to Leisure and Leisure to Live.
