Biography

Maiya Evans is a health educator, entrepreneur, and consultant. She is currently working as a lecturer in the Holistic Health and Public Health departments at SF State. In addition, she is a diversity consultant with the nonprofit The Mosaic Project, and has worked as a health educator at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine. In her spare time, she produces a health and wellness podcast called The Hey Girl Health Show, which focuses on health and wellness for women of color. 

Maiya has a Master of Public Health (MPH) and is a graduate of the SF State Holistic Health Certificate Program. She frequently incorporates practices she learned in the program into her classes, namely HH 205 and HH 200. Her classes incorporate stress reduction techniques, mindfulness, and breathing exercises to provide a stress- free space that allows students to relax, practice self-care, and celebrate themselves.
